◆ Introduction

Hi there! I’m 『Yukidaruma』, the admin of this site! My goal is to build the “World’s Best Blue Lock Site,” and I’m pouring my absolute “Ego” into every single article I write!!

I mainly cover the latest chapters, volumes, deep-dive theories, character profiles, and detailed reviews—and I’ve already crossed the 300-article milestone!!

Thanks to Blue Lock, a true “Ego” has awakened inside my heart!! I’ll do my absolute best to share the greatness of this masterpiece with all of you! ❄️⚽

① The Story So Far

The Blue Lock Project has finally entered its third phase: The all-new “U-20 World Cup Arc” is officially underway!!

The U-20 World Cup is a global tournament where only players under the age of 20 can compete. Representing Japan are the 23 Egoists who survived the brutal second phase, the “Neo-Egoist League”!!

This tournament also features the international rivals of the same generation who fought alongside and against them in the Neo-Egoist League. This means our favorite players will now face their former allies as ultimate rivals on the world stage?!

★ And that brings us to the present. Japan has just suffered a devastating defeat against France, and a shocking twist awaits them in the post-match locker room…?!

② Chapter 351: Full Spoilers & Breakdown

▼ Match Results of Rival Countries

The match results for other nations—who could pose a massive threat to Japan—have finally been revealed:

  • GROUP P: Germany 4 – 1 South Korea
  • GROUP D: Spain 5 – 2 Qatar
  • GROUP A: Nigeria 1 – 5 England

In Group A (the same group as Japan), England secured a crushing victory over Nigeria. This drops Japan down to 3rd place in the group standings.

To advance to the knockout stage, Japan now has absolutely no choice left: They MUST WIN their upcoming match against England.

If only Japan hadn’t conceded that final lethal goal against France, they would’ve been in 2nd place…

By intentionally making Japan give up that one point, you completely erased any option but to “WIN,” didn’t you, Kaneshiro-sensei?! What a crazy plot twist!!

And of course, Kaiser and Barou secured their victories in style too!

▼ Jinpachi Ego vs. Rin Itoshi

「The one dropped from the starting lineup for the next match… is Rin.」

Hearing Ego’s shocking announcement, Rin immediately fires back! He clearly cannot accept being benched when he hasn’t compromised his own “Ego” at all.

I mean, Rin has been holding down the No.1 spot forever. Sure, the France match didn’t go well, but his overall contribution to the team is immeasurable. He’s too big of an ace to be swapped out just because of one bad day, right? (◎_◎;)

▼ Resonance with Yoichi Isagi

However, in this match against France, the moment Isagi stalled, Rin stopped functioning as well. This reveals a dangerous flaw: they are so hyper-focused on each other that if one stops evolving or gets shut down, both of them ground to a halt simultaneously.

Against France, Isagi was completely neutralized by Hugo’s heavy pressure and was rendered useless. And because Rin is always hyper-fixated on Isagi, once Isagi couldn’t move, Rin lost his edge and ended up destroying himself.

Rin is just WAY too obsessed with Isagi… I mean, ever since the U-20 Japan match, he started viewing Isagi on the same level as Sae. (-“-)

He used to be a monster who could destroy everyone alone, but now he’s so fixated that it almost looks like ‘dependence’… Bro, what are you, Isagi’s girlfriend?! (; ・`д・´)

▼ Rin Itoshi’s “Ego”

In the previous Chapter 350, Jinpachi Ego explained that “Ego is nothing but a person’s ‘Life’s Game Design’ (the way they play their own life).”

When it comes to Rin Itoshi’s Ego, he explicitly stated that while it is undoubtedly powerful, it is a “vulnerable game design” that gets easily manipulated by Yoichi Isagi’s own Ego.

So basically, it’s ‘strong yet fragile’… Man, that’s complex. (;^ω^)

Honestly, I bet that’s exactly why Ego gave Rin that ‘Zazen (Zen meditation)’ homework during the off-season before the U-20 World Cup—just to prevent this exact situation from happening…(◎_◎) You’re getting soft, Rin.

▼ Stretching Together After So Long

After the meeting ends, Yoichi Isagi shows up right where Rin Itoshi is trying to find his inner peace (?) alone. Isagi then sits down next to Rin and starts stretching.

This scenery is EXACTLY the same as that nostalgic scene from Vol. 11, Chapter 88, ‘World Five’!!!

Back then, Isagi was just copying Rin, desperately trying to catch up to him. But this time, it’s completely different! I bet they’re here to face each other and reflect on their respective plays! (‘ω’)ノ

▼ The Reason Yoichi Isagi Approached Rin

I came here to talk because I want to understand the trigger for your Ego better.”

Isagi analyzes that the reason for their defeat against France was their failure to trigger a chemical reaction. Regarding that final shot where his thoughts clashed and overlapped with Rin’s—even though it resulted in a missed goal—Isagi believes the underlying process wasn’t wrong. On top of that, he is starting to realize that Egos have specific “traits.”

But honestly, if you ask me, this project literally preaches that ‘everyone is a striker,’ so a team that completely collapses just because Isagi and Rin got shut down is fundamentally flawed. (-“-)

Sure, Karasu managed to hold the team together a bit by taking hints from Hugo’s ‘Aptitude-Based Fatalism,’ but frankly speaking, that’s out of the question. Borrowing the opponent’s strengths to grow is great. But if you’re abandoning everything you’ve built up until now to adopt something completely foreign, that’s no different from ‘starting over from zero.’

In other words, it means you gave up. To put it bluntly, if that’s the case, they have no business being in Blue Lock.

▼ The Last Piece to Save Blue Lock

In order for Yoichi Isagi to become the “World’s Best Striker,” he needs Rin Itoshi’s insane Ego. It seems Isagi intends to use it as his own nourishment—devouring it to evolve further. That is exactly why his words sound like a plea: “I don’t want Rin to stop in a place like this. I want him to overcome this situation and stand in my way once again.”

From Rin’s perspective, the way Isagi speaks doesn’t sound like a mere ‘rebel’ anymore… he truly looks like the ‘Demon King.’ And with that, Isagi declares that the last piece to secure victory in the upcoming match against England is none other than Rin Itoshi.

This smells like a total ‘death flag’ to me… I can totally see Rin coming off the bench in the final minutes of the England match, but failing to become that ‘last piece’ in the end, leading to a crushing defeat. I have a terrible feeling that the U-20 World Cup might actually end right here with a ‘Group Stage Elimination’…(◎_◎;)

③ Wrap-up & Final Thoughts

This chapter was all about “Rin Itoshi’s vulnerable Ego”!!

To sum it all up, here are the key takeaways ↓↓↓

  • Japan in a Tight Spot
  • Rin Itoshi’s Ego is Fragile
  • The Traits of Ego

① Japan in a Tight Spot
→ Due to the result of the England vs. Nigeria match in the same group, Japan has slipped down to 3rd place. Since finishing in the top two is an absolute requirement to advance past the group stage, Japan now has no choice but to defeat England to keep their tournament alive.

As for England, no player information has been revealed yet. However, looking at their stats—a narrow 1-2 loss to France and a crushing 5-1 victory over Nigeria—they are clearly putting up much better numbers than Japan. There is zero doubt that they are an incredibly formidable team. Can Japan actually pull off a win here…?

② Rin Itoshi’s Ego is Fragile
→ By the absolute authority of Coach Jinpachi Ego, Rin Itoshi has officially been benched for the next match. The reason: “He is dangerously dependent on Yoichi Isagi.”

If Isagi gets neutralized again, Rin is guaranteed to shut down as well. This roster move was undoubtedly a calculated decision by Ego to prevent them from dragging each other down into ruin.

Rin’s Ego as a “Destroyer who crushes others” functions on one absolute condition: the target must be playing at a level superior to him. Unlike Sae Itoshi, who is already an absolute entity, Isagi’s form is still variable. This makes Rin’s current Ego heavily reliant on how well Isagi is playing. An Ego that depends on someone else is fundamentally vulnerable.

③ The Traits of Ego
→ What Yoichi Isagi is currently analyzing is the “linking mechanism between different Egos and their game designs.” Although the exact conditions remain a mystery, Isagi believes there is a clear, systematic reason why they have successfully triggered so many chemical reactions in the past despite everyone having unique Egos.

This theory is almost certainly correct. If Isagi can successfully put this into words and conceptualize it, it means they might gain the ability to trigger chemical reactions intentionally at will.

However, a major question remains: Why hasn’t Jinpachi Ego mentioned this before? Is he waiting for someone to figure it out on their own? Or is he intentionally withholding the information for now?

So, Rin Itoshi is definitely going to be the key player for the upcoming match against England! …Well, honestly, Blue Lock isn’t supposed to be a team that relies on a single absolute ace anyway, so I really want to see all the other players unleash their raw Egos a lot more… ( 一一)

The “Neo-Egoist League” was so much fun because it showcased the distinct Egos of so many different players, but this “U-20 World Cup Arc” feels like it’s lacking a bit of that hype so far…
